Ακόμη ένα βράδυ που στέκομαι πίσω από το κλειστό παράθυρο.
Απόψε μοιάζει με απολογισμό μιας χρονιάς που γλίστρησε σαν τόσες άλλες.
Απλώνω λίγο άρωμα στους καρπούς.
Συνήθεια αγαπημένη για να ξεχωρίζω τις στιγμές...
Για να τις θυμάμαι κάθε που το "φορώ"
Αφήνω τις σκέψεις να με τυλίξουν σαν άρωμα κι αυτές εθιστικό.
Όλα τα τικ τακ του ρολογιού ακολουθούν τον τρελό ρυθμό της καρδιάς.
Δεν έχουν μείνει πολλά πράγματα να ακολουθήσω πια.
Σαν γη κατακτημένη μοιάζουν όλα.
Αφού κι αυτός ο ανατριχιαστικός ήχος που αφήνει πίσω του ο χρόνος σιγά σιγά απορροφάται από τις εικόνες που τρέχουν μπροστά στα μάτια μου, τις στιγμές μου.
Νομίζεις πως είναι εύκολο να τον σταματήσεις.
Να λίγο έτσι ν' απλώσεις το χέρι και θα τον αγγίξεις λες.
Κι όμως πέρασαν τόσα βράδια εδώ σ αυτό το κλειστό παράθυρο να αφουγκράζομαι ήχους και να χαϊδεύω αναμνήσεις.
Δεν ξέρω αλήθεια σε τι βοηθούν οι αναμνήσεις.
Σε κρατούν ζωντανό ή σε σκοτώνουν;
Μπορούν να τα κάνουν και τα δύο....
Κι όμως μπορούν.......
Και είναι άδικο να μην έχεις την δύναμη να επιλέξεις.
Δεν σε πιστεύω όταν μου λες πως όλα έχουν ένα λόγο που γίνονται.
Ένα λόγο που εγώ δεν ορίζω απλά ακολουθώ.....χωρίς καν την δυνατότητα
oπισθοχώρησης...
Κοίτα πόσο γρήγορα αλλάζουν όλα....
Φώτα που ανάβουν και σβήνουν σαν σινιάλο ζωής...

όπου κι αν πήγαινα τα βήματα μου πάλι εδώ θα με έφερναν...
Χρειάστηκα βράδια πολλά για να δω πως υπάρχουν ακόμη τόσοι πίσω από κλειστά παράθυρα να ονειρεύονται κόσμους και θάλασσες ν ακολουθήσουν....
Δεν ξέρω τι είναι αυτό που με πιάνει τελευταία.
Σαν να μην βρίσκω τις λέξεις και θέλω να πω πολλά.....
Ο θόρυβος που διαπερνά το κλειστό παράθυρο μου λέει πως η πόλη ξυπνάει σιγά σιγά .
Κι εγώ ακόμη εδώ παρέα με τους δικούς μου ήχους και αυτήν την μελωδική φωνή σου που
απόψε μου κράτησε συντροφιά...

Νιώθω πολύ μόνη μου
Πάω σε μπαρ και κανείς δεν έρχεται, μόνο κάτι άγνωστοι μου προσφέρουν πρόθυμα φιλτράκια για να καπνίσω,το δέκατο,το εικοστό τσιγάρο, και κανείς δεν έρχεται, πιάνω το κινητό, συντάσσω προσεχτικά μηνύματα στις τελευταίες μου καβάτζες, προσέχω τι γράφω για να μη φανεί ότι τους θέλω περισσότερο απ' οτι εκείνοι ή ότι σκέφτηκα αυτό το μήνυμα πάνω από ένα λεπτό, αλλά δεν το στέλνω τελικά, αποθηκεύεται μόνο του στα "σταλθέντα στοιχεία" χωρίς να ξέρω το γιατί, δε σταματάω, ψάχνω, ανάμεσα σε όλους αυτούς, δεν μπορεί θα υπάρχει κάποιος και για μένα, κάποιος " ξεχωριστός σαν εμένα" , κάποιος που θα πίνει τον καφέ του χωρίς ιδιοτροπίες και θα θέλει να ζήσει για λίγα χρόνια στη Βαρκελώνη, όπως εγώ, και, ρε, κανείς δεν έρχεται, και τελειώνουν οι μπύρες, και οι γόπες γίνονται μικρές, τοσοδούλικες και ακόμα δεν έχει έρθει κανείς, κι εγώ, αλλάζω μαγαζί, και πάω σε κάποιο που μαζεύει " καλύτερο κόσμο" , ( γιατί σίγουρα αυτό είναι που φταίει) , και στο άλλο μαγαζί είναι χειρότερα, μάλλον κλείνουνε αλλά " προλαβαίνουμε για ένα σφηνάκι" , το πίνω κι αυτό, και μυρίζω ανακατεμένα ποτά και τσιγάρο, αλλά δε με νοιάζει και τόσο, και ξαναπιάνω το κινητό να στείλω " ένα μήνυμα που δεν πρέπει" και ο συνετός εαυτός μου, μου μιλά και λέει " όχι, δεν σε ήθελε γι αυτό που είσαι" , κι αμέσως πετάγεται ο άλλος εαυτός μου, ο γεμάτος παράπονο, και λέει " γιατί, ποιός μέχρι τώρα με ήθελε γι αυτό που είμαι" , και μετά έρχεται ο άλλος εαυτός, ο πιο αφελής και λέει " περίμενε, θα φωτίσουν όλα μια μέρα, θα δεις, απλά περίμενε" , και δεν πείθει ποτέ αυτός ο εαυτός για περισσότερο από μία ώρα, και περιμένω για λίγο, και κανείς δεν έρχεται, και όλα γίνονται πιο θολά κι εγώ πάλι γελάω περιμένοντας και λέω " κάνω το τσιγάρο και φεύγουμε", φεύγουμε, που να πάμε, που να πάω, δε θέλω να γυρίσω σπίτι, μπορεί να είναι όλα οικεία, και τα χρώματα
, και τα αντικείμενα, και η στάση που βολεύομαι στο κρεβάτι, αλλά ζωή δεν είναι αυτό, ζωή είναι
να έρχεται κάποιος, μέσα απ΄τα θολά φώτα του μπαρ, όταν φεύγεις, περπατάς γρήγορα πάνω στη Σόλωνος, λοξοκοιτάς τα ΜΑΤ στις γωνίες , ( όταν κάποιος δεν έρχεται, μπορεί να είναι παντού) , και μετά σταματάς ένα ταξί, σταματάς αυτό που ο οδηγός του φαίνεται πιο νέος και πιο ωραίος και φυσικά είναι ένας βλάκας ταξιτζής, που σε ρωτάει " που πάμε" , κι εσύ λες το γνωτό ποίημα, " κυψέλη από Μουστοξύδη", και στη διαδρομή δε μιλάει κανείς και εσύ κοιτάς δεξιά και αριστερά ελπίζοντας πως θα δεις κάτι, και δε βλέπεις τίποτα, και σε πάει σπίτι ένα ηλίθιο ταξί, αντί για φιλί και καληνύχτα δίνεις σε κάποιον τέσσερα ευρώ, κι ανοίγεις βιαστικά την πόρτα της εισόδου γιατί κανείς δε σε περιμένει να βεβαιωθεί ότι μπήκες μέσα, και φτάνεις πάνω, και τρέχεις να κατουρήσεις γιατί έχεις πιεί ό,τι υγρό υπήρχε, κι εκεί, είναι η πιο δύσκολη ώρα, αυτή που κοιτάζεσαι στον καθρέφτη του μπάνιου σου και είσαι- μα τω θεώ- γελοία, έχεις ένα ξεβαμμένο κόκκινο κραγιόν και μαύρες διαστημικές βλεφαρίδες και μαλλιά που πετάνε ακανόνιστα και τότε είναι που αν μπορούσες θα σε αγκάλιαζες και θα σε χάιδευες σπαράζοντας, αλλά κλαις ούτως ή άλλως γι' αυτή την άθλια εικόνα που βλέπεις, γι αυτό το θλιβερό πλάσμα που όλο το βράδυ περίμενε κάποιον χωρίς να ξέρει ποιόν, που όλη τη νύχτα έλεγε αστείες ιστορίες κι έξυπνες ατάκες για τις χοντρούλες και τους άπλυτους μακρυμάλληδες και ψυθίριζε σεξουαλικά υπονοούμενα κι ένιωθε καλά μόνο και μόνο γιατί είχε μείνει ακόμα χρόνος για να περιμένει κάποιον, αλλά τώρα, ο χρόνος τελείωσε, κι αλήθεια, δεν ήρθε κανείς, και βγάζεις τη στολή της βραδιάς, τη στολή της " νεανικής σίγουρης γυναίκας" , και μένεις γυμνή, και είσαι τόσο σεξουαλική αλλά και πάλι κανείς δεν έρχεται, και φοράς φόρμες και πέφτεις στο κρεβάτι και ούτε τη στάση που σε βολέυει στο κρεβάτι δεν μπορείς να βρεις, και ακόμα κλαις, και κανείς δεν έρχεται, κι αν υπήρχε κάτι σαν θεός, έστω και τώρα θα ερχόταν κάποιος, την ύστατη αυτή στιγμή, που πέφτεις για ύπνο μόνη αν και όλο το βράδυ πίστευες ότι θα ήσουνα αγκαλιά με κάποιον μετά, αλλά τελικά κανείς δεν ήρθε.. Το μόνο που πλησιάζει είναι εκείνη η στιγμή που θα ξαναπεριμένεις κάποιον που δεν έρχεται ποτέ.

Additional info:
- I never finished my original goal of walking to Germany. Instead, I walked for a year and roughly 4500km, passed the desert of Gobi, and then decided to stop walking for now.
- All of the distance from Beijing to Ürümqi has been completed solely on foot, straight good old walking. There are instances where you can see me in the video sitting on a plane or riding a boat, but those are during breaks I had to take from walking, either to sort out bureaucracy issues or to take care of some personal things.
- I had been planning this trip for over a year before I even started, and getting as far as I got was an experience for which I am very grateful.
- Obtaining the necessary visa for a trip like this was not very easy, hence I had to go back to Beijing a few times to resolve some issues.
- The songs I used in the video are 1) Zhu Fengbo - "Olive Tree" and 2) The Kingpins - "L'aventurier" - visit the Kingpins website if you want to know more, they are very cool I think.
- This is not a strict "1 pic a day" video, because I wanted to make it a bit more alive by adding some additional movement. Sometimes during the film you would follow me turn around, or something would happen in the background. I tried to capture these moments to make the video more interesting.
- The core of this project is in fact my website "www.thelongestway.com" where I have posted my extensive travel diary, starting from day 1 (Nov 9th 2007) and describing every single day until the end one year later.
